Decades are out of stock and will ship in October.  After two years of design, testing, revisions, more testing, and more tweaking, Abbey Bike Tools's Chain Tool is dialed and ready to put a wide eyed grin on your face. We broke over 10,000 chains on a single tool and pin during the development of the new tool. That's 3 chain installs a day every day for a decade, hence the name"Decade". The threaded body and lead screw are made from cro-moly and receive a low friction powder vapor deposition (PVD) coating to give it a silky feel you've never felt in a chain tool before. The nice large handles ensure ease of use with any chain. The freely rotating pin is made from a shock rated tool steel and will likely last as long as the rest of the tool. The chain tool comes with a spare chain pin in the handle and they are cross compatible with Shimano and Campagnolo pins should you find yourself in a pinch. The greatest part of the chain tool has to be the interchangeable mid plate though. The saddled part that holds the chain in position can be swapped to work with nearly anything the industry comes out with. This ensures that your investment won't become obsolete when company "X" comes out with an 18 speed cassette in 20 years.  The tool also peens Campagnolo 11 and 12 speed chains to factory specs using a backstop that threads into the backside of the tool as a stop.  Compatible with 9-12 speed chain including the new 12 speed chains from Campagnolo and Shimano's XTR 9100. Mid Plates for 1/8" single speed chains will be made once we get a handle on production.

They also won't rust into a ugly brown color after a season in a saddle bag.  The next part of the multi-tool is the chassis, for this we used our favorite US drawn aluminum alloy and built a 4 position frame to hold the bits. At first glance the tool looks like it might be cumbersome but once you get it in your hand you realize how simple and effective the ergonomics of the tool are. Offering good leverage for all of the small fasteners on your bike, be it the precision adjustment of limit screws or adjusting the handle bars because you had one beer too many when you bolted them down late last night.   Available in 5 pre-configured options or fully customizable to fit whatever mix of fasteners your bike requires. When one of my customers requested I make a titanium travel hammer I thought he was nuts, until I made it. Then I realized his genius. This is fairly specialized tool designed for the traveling mechanic and is part of our Team Issue line. However anyone who has used, currently uses, or is thinking about using a hammer in the future will appreciate this beauty. Coming in at roughly 265 grams it's a big weight savings over more traditional hammers. The soft face is replaceable with commonly available 1" threaded faces. At 12" long it's compact but still long enough to remove those stubborn bearings. We finish off the Team Issue hammer with a custom silicone grip from ESI to give a bit of cushion from the all metal construction. 

The Crombie tool is a game changer when it comes to swapping cassettes. Whether you're a professional mechanic swapping cassettes several times a day or a DIY kind of guy this gem has a place on your tool bench. The first time a quick release spring rolls under your bench the Crombie tool paid for itself. If you like to remove the cassette for a detailed cleaning or just swapping from one cassette to another it's a big time saver and a breeze to use. This version of the tool has a Shimano/SRAM remover on one side with a Campagnolo on the other. A precision machined spline ensures maximum engagement and durability. The STANDARD version comes with a solid handle which gives the tool some mass making it the preferred choice in the shop.  The SUPER LIGHT version shaves 125 grams out of the handle.  SL handles are plenty durable for lockrings that are torqued close to the 40 NM spec. If you commonly come across over torque lockrings get the standard handle!

With thru axles becoming more and more common the original Crombie tool was due for a makeover. We took the piloting pin and plus sized it to work with the 12mm thru axle fitment that is actually standardized. We make this version as a dual sided tool with two S Group ends, one for thru axle wheels and the other for regular hubs. The regular side has a hole deep enough to hide a skewer nut, it's really the best of both worlds. The STANDARD version comes with a solid handle while the SUPER LIGHT has a hollow handle to save weight for the travelling mechanic. SL handles are plenty durable for lockrings that are torqued close to the 40 NM spec. If you commonly come across over torque lockrings get the standard handle.  Note, this version of the Crombie tool is not compatible with any Campagnolo wheels.

While most other manufactures cast or forge their bottom bracket tools we machine ours. Forging is indeed stronger but it lacks the precision that machining gives you. Whenever you're dealing with anodized surfaces great care needs to be taken to keep those surfaces from getting marred, gouged and striped out. That can be nearly impossible with some spanner style tools and difficult with other loose fitting sockets. The most unique feature about this tool is the inner nub, that nub in the center of the tool is the same size as the crank spindle. What this does is give you a second point of contact that keeps the tool from camming off of the part. when trying to remove stubborn cups. This dual sided socket is designed to work with the new Shimano DA-9000/XTR-BB93 bottom bracket as well 6800 Ultegra and 5800 105 11spd groups  (BBR-60).

These gems are machined to precisely fit the preload adjuster cap on all modern 24mm spindle Shimano cranks. The finger spline offers good leverage to install, remove or adjust the preload cap. We also added a 5mm hex in the center should you need a little extra leverage that a hex key provides. These are also compatible with our fit kits and with the addition of a saddle height bullet can be used to more accurately measure saddle height.

A chain whip is a pretty simple tool, but the Whip-It maximizes function and simplicity. The Whip-It is made from a 12" length of stainless steel to give you enough leverage to loosen even the most stubborn cassettes. The Whip-it's round handle provides comfort surpassing other flat bar style chain whips on the market. The icing on the cake is that Abbey's signature tool, the Crombie, stores inside the handle of the Whip-It! This means the two tools you use together, get stored together, and travel together, giving you less clutter in your tool box.  The Whip-It comes in two versions, one for the 1/2" handle for all Crombies that Abbey makes as of January 2020, this version also works for dual sided and team issue before January 2020. There is also a version for the older 3/8 handle single sided chain whips which were sold prior to January 2020.
